The gathering of photographers from all over the world, held every two years, organized by the International Photographic Federation, and the host country is chosen based on the diversity and contrast of filming locations, the historical and cultural dimensions of the host country, and the members' vote.

Hosting

Sultanate of Oman is proud to be the first of the Middle East countries to host the FIAP PHOTOMEETING 2022 and it will bring together the 180 participants from different countries of the world among its high mountains, authentic castles, and picturesque beaches where they will live an exceptional experience between the past and the present, and their lens will reflect this unique mix of beauty to all cultures of the world.

This hosting of the PHOTOMEETING event ensures the vision of the cultural strategy of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, which is “Oman to be a leading cultural destination with a solid identity” and to achieve the seventh strategy aspect, which is “cultural communication”, which will achieve its aforementioned goals, namely:

  • Investing cultural diversity as a way of introducing and promoting the Sultanate, and enhancing its role as a world-leading cultural destination.
  • Achieving partnership and integration with local and international institutions in the cultural fields.

Arrivals Day

  • Arrival and Meet FIAP Oman representative at Muscat International Airport.
  • Transfer to the Hotel.

    Depart the Hotel to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mousque. An Iconic Archi¬tectural Wonder

    Arrive and discover the Grand Mousque taking pictures of the beautiful Arabian and Islamic architect and beautiful mosaics and ceilings surround¬ed by stunning and well maintained gardens.

    Depart the Grand Mousque to the Royal Opera House Muscat.

    Arrive at Royal Opera House Muscat and enjoy the beauty of “Oman around the World, a musical journey” Exhibition

  • 12.20PM

    Departure from Royal Opera House Muscat.

    Arrive Hotel for Lunch.

    Depart the Hotel to Sultan Qaboos University for the official 7th Photo Meeting Opening Ceremony.

  • 5.45PM

    Arrival to Sultan Qaboos University and take a group photo for partici¬pants in front of SQU Tower.

  • 6.10PM

    Heading to grand hall to the opening of Youth Exhibition.

  • 7.00PM

    Official Opening including speeches by FIAP and Host Country Officials as well a demonstration by the Photography Society Students of the Uni¬versity.

  • 8.30PM

    Dinner at the court yard with some traditional music performed by the Omani Oud Hobbyist Association.

  • 10PM

    Dinner completed and departure to the hotel.

  • 10.40PM

    Arrive hotel for overnight.

Day 3 – 26 Oct – Wednesday

Nizwa Fort & Bahla Fort. Forts Activity.

  • 6.00AM to 7.30AM

    Breakfast at the hotel.

  • 7.35AM

    Depart the Hotel to Nizwa City and Fort. One of the oldest cities in Oman and was the previous capital.

  • 10AM

    Arrive and discover the fort. You will experience and come into close encounter with it’s rich culture and heritage. The fort is filled with activ¬ities such as folklore performance, local bread making as showcasing the old way of Omani living. Unique photo opportunities to capture and live the essence of Nizwa’s old culture within the fort. You will have the opportunity as well to wonder through the Nizwa Souq (old market).

  • 12.30PM

    Break for lunch at Nizwa fort.

  • 1.30PM

    Depart Nizwa Fort and head to Bahla Fort. An UNESCO world site and an outstanding example of a fortified oasis settlement of the me¬dieval Islamic period, exhibiting the water engineering skill of the early inhabitants for agricultural and domestic purposes. Believed to be built around the 12th and 15th Century.

  • 2.30PM

    Arrive Bahla Fort for a unique workshop highlighting the old way of liv¬ing in Omani homes and markets including men, women and children. Activities such as traditional way of Halwa making, trading, crafts men, show of horses as well as trading and auctioning of livestock.

  • 6.00PM

    Dinner at Bahla Fort.

  • 7.30PM

    Depart Bahla back to Muscat via the route of Jibreen

  • 9.45PM

    Arrive at Hotel

Nizwa Castle and Bahla Castle. and activities of the two castles.

Day 4 – 27 Oct – Thursday

Qurayat Various Activities.

    Breakfast at the Hotel.

    Depart the Hotel and head to Qurayat.

  • 9.00AM

    Arrive at Qurayat (Wadi Dhayqah dam) where you can enjoy taking photos and photographing children’s , men’s and women’s models in traditional dress. Beautiful landscape photography in the heart of farms with farmers doing their work.

  • 11:30 AM

    Depart Wadi Dhayqah

  • 12:00 PM

    Lunch
    Visit of Photography Exhibition

  • 2:30 PM

    Depart from Wali’s Office.

  • 3:00 PM

    Arrive at Qurayat Beach to enjoy watching and photographing fishermen on the beach and Omani marine traditional performance.

  • 5:15 PM – 7:00 PM

    Heading to Hotel.

  • 8.00PM to 10:00PM

    Dinner at the Hotel.

Qurayat

Day 5 – 28 Oct – Friday

Desert Activity

  • 6:00 AM – 7:30 AM

    Breakfast at the hotel.

  • 07:55 AM

    Depart the Hotel head to the legendary Sharqiya Sand Desert. Covering a total area of 12,500 square kilometers the area is defined by a boundary of 180 kilometers north to south and 80 kilometers east to west.

  • 10:15 AM

    Arrive the meeting point to board the 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles that will take you through the desert and into your camp.

  • 11:00 AM

    Arrive the camp, Arabian Oryx Camp which will be your home for the night. Immediate check in to refresh before heading for a quick lunch. Bedouin Family life in tents including men, women and children. The set will include other tents known as “poem” tents which will demonstrate a folklore from the area. Other demonstrations such as Heena decoration and bread and coffee making in the traditional way.

  • 12:00 PM

    Lunch at the Camp’s restaurant

  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

    Camel Racing show will start near the Camp.

  • 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

    Enjoy watching Sunset and shooting with Desert Nature and camels.

  • 6:00 PM

    Depart Photo set back to Camp.

  • 7:30 PM – 9:30PM

    Dinner at the Camp with entertainment provided by them and overnight.

Distance: Driving proximate 250 KM

(note: add another 200 KM for the return or onward journey)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

B&W Event & FIAP Evening

Note: Group G2 will depart the desert back to Muscat.

Activity (Group G2)

    Breakfast at the Desert Camp.

    Depart the Camp back to Hotel in Muscat.

    Arrive to FIAP Exhibition center (Photographic Society of Oman)

Note: Group G2 will reunite at 12.15 PM.

Activity (Group G2)

    Breakfast at the hotel.

    Depart the hotel and head to FIAP Exhibition Center (Photographic Society of Oman).

  • 12.00PM

    Opening the FIAP new Exhibition center and the 35th FIAP Biennial B&W Event and Exhibition hosted by the Photographic Society of Oman. Snacks will be served.

  • 12.30PM

    Heading to Rozna Restaurant

  • 1.00PM

    Lunch at Rozna Restaurant.

  • 2.30PM

    Group Photo at Rozna Restaurant

    Heading to the hotel.

    Heading to The National Museum

    Arrive at The National Museum

    Heading to Al Alam Palace and taking photos for models wearing Omani costumes.
